Coronavirus; "What's in My Kit?"; New Camera and Lens Tests; Carcinoma

It’s been an extraordinary — and extraordinarily bad - month.

For ALL of us. But we will get through this.

Let’s go at this in reverse chronlogical order.

You Can Win a Fujifilm X100V or 10.2” Apple iPad in Our Latest Photo Competition!

Now that many of us are in lockdown in our own homes, I was reminded of my youth: my father used to say to me “don’t suck lemons, succeed.” It seemed incredibly hokey to me even when I was 7 or 8, but now, a decade and a half since he left this mortal coil, it serves as inspiration for only our second-ever photo competition, Home Photos. Please show some love for our friends at Adorama for sponsoring the competition by visiting their website for all your photo, video, computer, and audio needs.

Keep Calm & Carry On: Coronavirus through the Eyes of a Photographer

I’d already been in a contemplative mood when I enlisted the aid of Adorama to help with the contest, having released only a day earlier a very different video on the coronavirus. I encourage you to watch it all the way through.

New Series: What’s in My Kit? (Episode 1: Tripods; Episode 2: Gimbals)

We published the first two episodes of a new series we’re calling “What’s in My Kit?” Again, in reverse order:

Buy the Zhiyun Weebill-S.

You Were Right: Basal Cell Carcinoma

Just before THESE two videos, I shared a different kind of video about ANOTHER health issue - basal cell carcinoma. I’d ignored a boo-boo on my forehead until more than a dozen members of our YouTube audience wrote in saying I should have it checked out. They were SO right!

Two camera vids preceded that, both sporting APS-C sensors yet very different: the Nikon Z50 and a pre-production Fujifilm X-T4:

Buy the Fujifilm X-T4.

Laowa 9mm f/5.6 Dreamer Lens in M-Mount

Finally (firstly - remember, this is in reverse chronological order), I went hands-on with a lens I never would have sought out on my own, the ultra-wide angle 9mm f/5.6 W. Dreamer Lens from Laowa. It definitely altered my perspective😊:

And with that, you’re all caught up!
